What moves an electrical price
Not a price list, because the same job in two houses is two different prices. What this is, is what actually changes the number.
- We look before we price
- In writing, itemised

Electrical prices
Why the same job costs different money in two houses
Electrical materials are a small part of most domestic jobs. A socket, a length of cable and a light fitting are not what you are paying for. What you are paying for is time, and almost all of the time is getting cable from where it is to where it needs to be, and putting right whatever had to be disturbed to do it.
So the four things that move a price are these. The construction, because a cavity wall and a solid wall are entirely different routes. What is already installed, because work on an undocumented installation starts with understanding it. The making good standard, because filled, plastered and decorated are three different jobs. And access, because a loft you can stand in and a loft you cannot are different days.
None of those can be answered on the phone, which is why a number given over the phone is a guess that will move. What we will do instead is come and look, and then put the scope in writing so you can see what is included and compare it with anybody else's. Often asked about alongside rewiring, consumer units and sockets and lighting.

An undocumented installation has to be understood before it can be added to, and that is real time.
Filled, plastered or decorated. Three different jobs, agreed in writing rather than assumed.
Done across Birkenhead, Wallasey, Bebington, and everywhere else on the peninsula.

What this job looks like
The slots below are placeholders. The pictures elsewhere on this site are example images of the kind of work described and they are not photographs of our own jobs. Nothing here is borrowed from anybody else's. Our own photographs go in as jobs are finished and customers are happy for us to use them.
Why people use us

The scope, the making good standard and what would change the number, so the comparison with anybody else is honest.
- The installation looked at before a price is given
- Scope and making good standard stated in writing
- Fault finding priced as time rather than as false certainty
- Everything an estimate until somebody has looked
Frequently asked questions
Electrical prices: the questions people ask
The ones that come up most. If yours is not here, ring and ask.
Why will you not quote over the phone?
Because the two biggest variables, the construction and what is already installed, cannot be established over the phone. A phone number either protects us by being high or traps you by being low and then growing, and neither is a good start.
Is it cheaper if I do the making good myself?
It can be, genuinely, and we will price it that way. Plenty of people prefer to have their own plasterer and decorator follow on, and on a whole house that is a reasonable saving.
Do you charge for coming to look?
No. Somebody comes, looks at the board, looks behind an accessory, works out the routes, and you get it in writing. That is the only way to give a number that means anything.
Are you taking bookings yet?
Not yet. The banner at the top of every page says so. You can send an enquiry and we will come back to you when we open.

About Wirral Electrics
Wirral Electrics is not taking bookings yet. The pages here are finished and the information on them is accurate, and the brand will start taking work when the labour behind it is in place. What that means, and what this site deliberately does not claim.
